Our wines are made from grapes grown in accordance with the principles of organic farming. This means the vineyard does not use artificial chemical fertilisers, pesticides, fungicides and herbicides.
The grapes grown for us by the Tyney Family are certified by Bio-Gro New Zealand. It takes 3 years for a vineyard to be fully organic, in the interim there is an "in-conversion" status to organic certification that is audited every year. Our first harvest in 2017 was from grapes that had been in-conversion for one year, 2018 for two years and the grapes we picked in 2019 are fully certified to the international organic standards (IFOAM).
We feel that reducing our impact on the environment through organic practices is the first step in making wines that are more harmonious with nature. It is also important that we have the integrity of our approach tested and approved by committing to Bio-Gro certification.
